From Nail Artist to Software Developer: How Titansoft Empowers Career Changers to Thrive | Titaner Showcase

The Software Developer role is often seen as a dream job—offering great pay and strong career prospects. But is it really that easy to make the switch? At Titansoft, we believe in embracing diverse backgrounds and career journeys. One of our team members made the leap from nail artist to software developer—a transition that might sound surprising, but has proven incredibly rewarding.

“Can I Really Code If I Didn’t Study Computer Science?”

“I didn’t major in tech. Can I still learn to code?”

“I’ve been working in another field. Will any company give me a chance to switch careers?”

These are common concerns for many considering a career change into software development. And while the transition may not always be smooth, at Titansoft, we warmly welcome those who come from unconventional paths. One of our developers, Alice, made the switch from the beauty industry to tech, and her story proves just how powerful a diverse background can be.

It might sound like a huge leap, but in reality, Alice’s previous experience added unexpected value to her new role, broadening her perspective and strengthening her career as a developer.

Titansoft Encourages Exploration: “Don’t Be Afraid. Just Do It!”

Alice proudly calls herself a multi-hyphenate. Before joining Titansoft as a software developer, she worked across several industries, from food retail to marketing and packaging design. The daily grind eventually became overwhelming, leading her to rethink her future. Remembering her university studies in multimedia design and her passion for aesthetics, she took the leap to earn a beauty certification and started her own nail studio.

Though she successfully pivoted, she soon realized that price-cutting competition made it hard to maintain quality. Long hours to accommodate working clients, sometimes until midnight, further strained the business. So she gave herself permission to try again.

“I believe in using my skills to earn a living, then evaluating whether that life suits me. You’ll never really know unless you try, so just do it.”

While many are taught to stay in stable jobs until retirement, Alice chose to chase a life she truly wanted, and that path led her to Titansoft.

Tackling Code and Embracing Business Thinking

Alice’s university major included web design, so she was already familiar with design tools and front-end principles. Though she hadn’t done much actual coding, she had a Software Developer husband to consult and a natural interest in logic and math, which helped her cross over into the expertise without major challenges.

Her past experience working directly with clients honed her communication skills. Running her own studio also taught her marketing, finance, and resource management, giving her a well-rounded business mindset that now broadens her career prospects as a developer.

Career changes always involve crossroads. What matters is how you gain value and learnings, to apply them at your next job. At Titansoft, the transferable growth mindset is exactly what we are looking for. Our motto of Never Stop Improving means we are constantly on the lookout for those who never stop learning, and constantly reflect on how they can grow.

Discovering the Power of Transparency

Coming from a creative background filled with vibrant colors, Alice was struck by one particular value at Titansoft: transparency.

“In my previous jobs, I only focused on what I was told to do. I never knew what value the product actually brought. At Titansoft, I’m encouraged to see the meaning behind my work.”

Take KPIs, for example. At Titansoft, KPIs aren’t top-down orders. Instead, cross-functional teams, including Software Developers, Product Owners, and UI Designers, meet to discuss goals and share perspectives. Leadership defines broad strategic direction, and teams work collaboratively to break that down into actionable goals.

Using Agile practices and inclusive processes, team members are empowered to speak up, propose ideas, and take ownership of their decisions—not because a manager said so, but because everyone shares the same values.

A Culture That Encourages Honest Conversations, With a Splash of Wine

At Titansoft, we foster a “criticize the issue, not the person” culture. During Retrospective meetings, we want team members to open up not just about processes, but about emotions too.

To help with this, we’ve even set up a bar counter in the office, stocked with a selection of alcoholic drinks. Sometimes, team members bring a glass of wine to retrospectives, creating a relaxed atmosphere where people feel comfortable being candid.

We believe retrospectives should be a safe space to air frustrations, reflect honestly, and reset as a team. Shared understanding leads to stronger collaboration and better outcomes.

“Don’t be afraid. Just do it. And Never Stop Improving.”

Like Alice, many of us find ourselves at unexpected turning points in our careers. Titansoft believes in moving fast, learning continuously, and embracing change.

If you’re thinking about a career change, or just looking for a team that values growth, transparency, and authenticity, Titansoft might be the place for you.
